第一章 父影之下

雷米与阿金这对小哥俩,终得与疏离多年的父亲弗拉林共享难得一日。三人游走在初次相见的巨型都市拉各斯,少年窥见钢筋森林的奇观,亦目睹父亲谋生路上的重重难关。此刻整座城市正笼罩在1993年总统大选结果的巨大阴云之下,而父子三人的归家之路,竟也成了选票漩涡中飘摇的未知数。

第二章 亚伯拉罕先生

 15岁的以色列小男孩莫塞斯(Pierre Boulanger 饰)和父亲(Pierre Boulanger 饰)住在巴黎蓝色大道一幢贫穷脏乱的公寓中。母亲(Isabelle Renauld 饰)离家出走,父亲整天沉迷于书本,还编造出一个并不存在的优秀的哥哥打击莫塞斯。本该享受童年快乐的小男孩压抑阴郁,在附近的流莺献出了自己的第一次。莫塞斯去附近的土耳其穆斯林亚伯拉罕先生(Omar Shariff 饰)的杂货店里偷盗,被亚伯拉罕发现。和蔼的老人原谅了眼前这个小男孩,并亲切地向他传授知识,一老一少从此展开一段弥足珍贵的忘年交……

第三章 精武陈真:租界风云

1911年,陈真为师父霍元甲报仇后投身革命加入中国同盟会,受托调查军阀与日本在天津租界的勾结。在执行任务遭伏击、同伴中毒的险境中,陈真与一度为敌的武人郑邵远从对决到联手,最终陈真在租界内与日谍头目决一死战,揭穿阴谋,公之于众。

第四章 好像一切都很糟糕

Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night.   However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements.   Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
